A sample receptacle 10 for paste-like sample material, especially stool, to be dispersed in a suspension fluid has a sample receiver cup 12 which is attached to a vessel cover 14 and is open towards the vessel bottom. The vessel bottom has a raised section 28 whose shape is complementary to the sample receiver cup 12. The cup wall 42 is provided, over at least part of its area, with screen openings 44 through which, as the sample receptacle 10 is closed with the aid of the vessel cover 14, the sample material is squeezed out and finely dispersed in the suspension fluid 46. <IMAGE>
