PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a signal smaller than a min. signal width or signal larger than a max. signal width in information tracks by providing a dummy bit to a juncture between the terminal part and format part of the information tracks. CONSTITUTION:A synchronizing pattern 22 and R line 5 in a recording format has the role as a sepn. region for separating the adjacent tracks in an arrow C direction and there is the possibility of the generation of the signal 0.5T smaller than the min. signal width obtainable by MFM modulation or the signal 2.5T larger than the max. signal width if prescribed data is subjected to the MFM modulation and is written into the respective information tracks 4 in the case in which the bit of the synchronizing pattern 22, etc., exists as the format. The dummy bit 30 consisting of 2 bits is, thereupon, provided between the information tracks 4 and the synchronizing pattern 22 in order to eliminate such possibility. The generation of the signal smaller than the min. signal width or the signal larger than the max. signal width is prevented. |
