STEAM MODIFYING CATALYST OF HYDROCARBON AND PREPARATION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a steam modifying catalyst hardly generating a lowering of activity and strength even in a high temp. oxidizing atmosphere by specifying a ratio of aluminum oxide and metal oxide and selecting metal from Ca, Ba and Sr. CONSTITUTION:The main components of the carrier of a steam modifying catalyst of hydrocarbon are set to aluminum oxide and metal oxide and an amount of metal oxide is set to about 3-25mol per 100mol. of aluminum oxide. The metal of said metal oxide is selected from calcium, barium and strontium and 3-50 pts.wt. of nickel oxide and/or cobalt oxide and/or 0.03-3 pts.wt. of a platinum group noble metal are supported by 100 pts.wt. of the catalyst carrier. The catalyst thus obtained forms no nickel aluminate even in a high temp. oxidizing atmosphere and has a high specific surface area and hardly generates a lowering of activity and strength due to the precipitation of carbon.
