PURPOSE:To facilitate a manual operation through a manually contacting and releasing mechanism by providing electrical interruption means or the like adapted to interrupt an electrification to a stepping motor by motor driving means at the time of detecting the opening of a main body cover. CONSTITUTION:In the case where printing is implemented with a main body cover closed, paper is inserted into the opposite location of a thermal head in such a manner that the thermal head 2 is spaced apart from the platen 1. Then, a stepping motor 4 is turned to drive the thermal head 2 so as to press the platen 1. At this time, when paper jam occurs, a main body cover is made open to remove the paper. In this manner, a cover open switch 7 is made ON and L-level signals are respectively inputted in other inputs of two AND gates 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d of a control circuit 6. In this manner, a supply of an electric current to each magnetization phase of the stepping motor is interrupted. |
