PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the characteristic spectrum of a sheet of sandpaper from appearing on a reflecting surface by a method wherein a solid material is polished by a carrier having a layer as a highly reflective film and the solid material in a certain amount is precipitated on the carrier. SOLUTION: Thin aluminum the thickness of which is within a range of, e.g. 100 to 200Åis precipitated on the surface of a sheet of sandpaper, and a carrier is formed. When a rigid polymer material is polished by using the carrier, the polymer material for spectrochemical analysis is formed on the surface of the carrier. The carrier is placed in an apparatus for spectrochemnical analysis, and a reflection is analysis is executed by using an infrared source. In this case, the reflecting film of the piece of sandpaper raises a general reflectance by a substantial amount, and it prevents a material at the lower part from absorbing intermediate infrared rays. Consequently, it is possible to prevent the characteristic spectrum of the piece of sandpaper form appearing on a reflecting surface. In addition, the polishing action of the piece of sandpaper is not affected substantially by the film. |
