In the layer seams of superimposed building block rows (1) reinforcement bars (2) are arranged, locating at least partly in through longitudinal slots (3) and extending horizontally over several building blocks. The reinforcement bars at least partly are surrounded by a mortar or adhesive layer and the individual rows of superimposed building blocks are joined to each other by a thin bed mortar or adhesive layer (10). In holes (5) of the building blocks, located on the opposite block side to the longitudinal slots, distance holders (6) are inserted, on which the reinforcement bars locate. The distance holders on their upper sides have a projecting edge (7). Over the edges are provided upwardly extending heads (8), on which at least one reinforcement bar (2) locates. The distance holders are of plastic.
