PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in the case of using a light accumulating member as an operating means and providing a light emitting means used only for illuminating the surroundings of the operating means, handling becomes inconvenient, also, the number of components are unnecessarily increased, and also, energies used only for the light emitting means are required. SOLUTION: The electronic flash device has an electronic flash means 22, lighting-possible state display lighting means 14 and 16 for displaying the lighting possible or impossible state (for example, charging is finished/not finished) of the electronic flash, an information display means 6 for displaying photographing information and another information, and the operating means 31 which is actuated so as to light the information display means. In the device, the operating means is arranged at the position where the state display lighting means can be lightened with the light emitted by the state display lighting means.
