<p>Supporting and carrying device for a portable computer including a portable computer (10) having a housing (12) and a display panel (30) pivotally coupled to the housing (12) proximate a rear end thereof by a hinge (32). Also included are attachment means (34, 36) for a strap (38) having a first end (40) and a second end (41). The first end (40) is coupled to the housing (12) so as to be positioned proximate the hinge (32) and a first side of the housing (12). The second end (41) is coupled to the housing (12) so as to be positioned proximate the hinge (32) and a second side of the housing (12) opposing the first side. Also included is a base plate coupled or incorporated into the bottom of the portable computer (10), the base plate having a support member (42), the support member (42) movable between a retracted position substantially within a footprint of the housing (12) and an extended position extending beyond the footprint, the support member (42) having an end (44) pivotally or slidably coupled to the base plate the end (46) having an engagement element (50) receivable by an individuals belt, waist band, etc.</p> |
