<p>Profiles of songs or multimedia works may be constructed with respect to a set of musical or multimedia elements for characterizing subjectively a number of pieces of music or multimedia works. A user preference profile may be constructed by presenting definition clips (132) of the music or multimedia works to a user and having the user rate (112) the clip, where the definition clip highlights one or more defining characteristics of the elements. A match is then found between the user profile and the database to discover the type of song or multimedia work that would appeal to a particular user or to discover a profile of user or users to whom a particular song or multimedia would appeal to.</p> |
