摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clad material manufacturing method in which the manufacturing environment is not limited, no impurities or oxygen are present in a boundary face between a base metal and a dissimilar metal, intermetallic compound such as alloy is not generated on a joining surface of the dissimilar metal, the base metal is not deformed, and dissimilar metal can be joined to a required portion of the base metal in a limited manner. SOLUTION: In the clad material manufacturing method, a metal dissimilar from a base metal 2 (a dissimilar metal) plate 3 is arranged on a surface of the base metal, a tool 1 having projection 12 shorter than the thickness of the dissimilar metal plate 3 is inserted from the dissimilar metal plate 3 side while rotating the tool, and the base metal and the dissimilar metal are mutually diffused and joined to each other on the boundary thereby by rotating and moving the tool 1 and performing friction stir and joining.
