An apparatus and a method for pressing a curved surface of a metal plate and a box type pin die used for the same are provided to reduce the manufacturing cost, maintenance cost and management cost by omitting a complicated pin driving device from a pair of dies. An apparatus for pressing a curved surface of a metal plate comprises a first die(10) and a second die(20), wherein a curvature of the second die is determined according to a curvature of the first die. The second die includes a box(14), a plurality of pins(12) and a pin fixing device. The pins are moved up and down relative to the box and the height of the pins is determined based on the curvature of the first die. The pin fixing device is installed in the box and forms the curvature of the second die by fixing the height determined pins.
