PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device capable of preventing the buckling and jam of a sheet which is carried from a lower-stage feeding stage or the like through a second sheet carrying passage caused by the collision of the sheet with a carrying belt, and surely gripping and holding the sheet which is carried by a first carrying means through a first carrying passage on a belt carrying face. SOLUTION: The belt carrying means 8A is disposed so that the belt carrying face 82a is projected from a vertical carrying guide face 72a toward the outside (a center side of the second carrying passage B). In the projection amount d of the belt carrying face 82a, when the downstream end 71b of an outline guide face 71a is used as a boundary, the projection amount d of the carrying face 82a positioned upstream of the second carrying passage B is smaller than that of the carrying face 82a positioned downstream of the second carrying passage B. A pulley 84 is disposed inside the vertical carrying guide face 72a so that the outer peripheral face of the pulley 84 is not projected from the vertical carrying guide face 72a to the outside.
