PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet apparatus which can carry out cleaning to two liquid ejection heads by a simple configuration, and to provide a cleaning method of the liquid ejection heads in the liquid jet apparatus. SOLUTION: The liquid jet apparatus includes a pair of printing head units 22A and 22B whose nozzle faces with nozzle openings formed therein are opposed up and down, and a cleaning unit 24 with two suction ports up and down. Cleaning is carried out by moving each suction port of the cleaning unit 24 to the position opposed to the nozzle faces 220A and 220B of the printing head units 22A and 22B, and sucking the ink adhered to the nozzle faces 220A and 220B from the up and down two suction ports at a time.
