PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can produce an artificial marble having excellent design and a fine and graceful appearance, particularly, an appearance of a Japanese paper tone which has not been seen in the conventional artificial marble while alleviating restrictions on the thickness of a flake on which limitation upon production has been large. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for producing an artificial marble where a polymerizable component (A) of 20 to 75 mass% essentially consisting of methyl methacrylate, an inorganic filler (B) of 20 to 75 mass%, and a polymerized and cured flake (C) of 0.01 to 5 mass% composed of a cured product obtained from a polymerizable component (C-a) of 25 to 75 mass% in which the composing ratio between methacrylic acid ester other than methyl methacrylate or acrylic ester and methyl methacrylate is 55/45 to 100/0 and an inorganic filler (C-b) of 25 to 75 mass% and having a thickness of 0.001 to 2 mm, an aspect ratio of 1:3 or more and the maximum length of≤100 mm are mixed and stirred, so as to be polymerized and cured.
