an image pickup element comprising a microlens and a pixel unit cell comprising a plurality of pixels configured to receive light from the microlens, the image pickup element being configured to output a separated first image signal and second image signal for respective pixels of the pixel unit cell; a parallax detector configured to calculate a parallax comprising an image shift amount between the first image signal and the second image signal; a change detector configured to detect a change of an aperture stop; and an image correcting portion configured to perform a correction to reduce an amount of change of the parallax which depends on the change in the aperture stop.
