An imaging device and a capsule endoscope are provided which, even when capturing normal images and special images simultaneously, can obtain high-quality normal images. This imaging device is provided with: a color filter 231 comprising filter units arranged so as to correspond to the multiple pixels, the filter units themselves comprising multiple first band-pass filters and a second band-pass filter; a first light source unit 241 for irradiating light within the transmission spectra of the first bandwidth filters; a second light source unit 242 for irradiating light which has a wavelength spectrum of intensity that forms a convex distribution at the top, and which is within an optical spectrum of a narrow band narrower than a broadband spectrum, wherein the upper limit value and the lower limit value of the wavelengths at half the maximum value in the light spectrum are between the upper limit value and the lower limit value of the wavelengths at half the maximum value in the transmission spectrum of the second band-pass filter; and a control unit 30 which causes the first light source unit 241 and the second light source unit 242 to irradiate light simultaneously.
