TOUCH PANEL AND DISPLAY DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME

A touch panel is provided. The touch panel includes first to third electrodes and a dielectric layer. The second electrode is electrically insulated from the first electrode on a same plane as that of the first electrode. The third electrode is provided while overlapping the first electrode and the second electrode. The dielectric layer is interposed between the first electrode and the third electrode and between the second electrode and the third electrode and includes an anisotropic dielectric material having a relative dielectric constant varied with arrangement directions. The touch panel senses the coordinates of the touch input using the first and second electrodes electrically isolated from each other. Since the intensity of the touch input is sensed based on the variation in the relative dielectric constant of the dielectric layer, three-dimensional (3D) touch sensing is possible. The intensity of the touch input can be sensed regardless of the variation in the thickness of the dielectric layer using the anisotropic dielectric material, so that the intensity of the touch input can be exactly measured.
