<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell with higher generation efficiency and smaller volume as compared with a conventional fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: In a fuel cell stack, a plurality of cylindrical cells 6 are bundled, and a metal porous body 7 serving as a fuel flow passage is disposed between the cells 6. In one cell 6, an electrolyte 11 is sandwiched by electrodes comprising a hydrogen ion permeable metal. An air electrode 8 and a fuel electrode 9 are constituted of hydrogen ion permeable metal plates and formed into a cylindrical shape. The diameter of the air electrode 8 is smaller than that of the fuel electrode 9, and the air electrode 8 is arranged in the fuel electrode 9.
