<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength composite ceramic which is excellent in consistency with thermal expansion of a heat-resistant metal and in insulating properties; and a solid electrolyte fuel cell prepared by using the composite ceramic. <P>SOLUTION: The composite ceramic contains magnesia (MgO), spinel (MgAl<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>), and zirconia (ZrO<SB>2</SB>); the mass ratio of magnesia/spinel is (20/1)-(1/1), and the content of zirconia is 1-40 mass% of the sum (100 mass%) of magnesia, spinel, and zirconia. Preferably, among the cubic system peak, the tetragonal system peak, and the monoclinic system peak of zirconia, at least the cubic system peak and the tetragonal system peak are displayed in the Raman spectroscopic analysis of the composite ceramic. The solid electrolyte fuel cell is equipped with structural members (e.g. an insulating member such as an insulating frame; a structural member such as an inter-cell separator; and the like) composed of the composite ceramic. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
