Handover control based on closed subscriber group subscription information

One or more nodes in a network provide access control for an in-bound handover of an access terminal to a closed subscriber group. For example, at least one of a source access point, a network node, or a target access point may determine whether handover is allowed based on whether a closed subscriber group identifier of the target access point is listed in closed subscriber group subscription information for the access terminal.

1. A method of communication, comprising:
receiving at a network node a message from an access point that indicates that an access terminal is being handed-over to a target access point, wherein the message is a handover required message from a source access point, a handover request acknowledgment message from the target access point or a path switch request message from the target access point; providing closed subscriber group subscription information, wherein the closed subscriber group subscription information comprises a list of one or more closed subscriber group identifiers; comparing, by the network node, a closed subscriber group identifier of the target access point with the one or more closed subscriber group identifiers in the closed subscriber group subscription information for the access terminal; and determining whether to allow the access terminal to be handed-over to the target access point based on the comparison.
