PURPOSE:To carry out cloth feed by correctly detecting the cloth hem position by estimating the degree of existence of the notch and fluff of the cloth hem through the fuzzy rule, receiving the output of a cloth hem detecting sensor and the variable speed as input and shifting a worked cloth on the basis of the control quantity of a cloth shifting motor which is obtained on the basis of the result of the estimation. CONSTITUTION:A thin plate shaped cloth board 14 for placing a worked cloth W on the bed surface of a bed part 10 is arranged, and a cloth hem detection part 20 is arranged, and on the undersurface side of the upper wall part 20a of the cloth hem detector 20, a cloth detecting sensor 22 for detecting the existence of the worked cloth W and a cloth edge detecting sensor 24 for detecting the cloth edge of the worked cloth W are installed. A cloth shifting mechanism 50 for shift-driving the worked cloth W on the cloth board 14 in the lateral direction E crossing at right angle with the cloth feeding direction in installed, and a CPU receives the output of the cloth edge detecting sensor 24 and the speed change, and estimates the degree of existence of notch and fluff at the cloth edge through the fuzzy rule, and the control quantity for controlling the cloth shifting means 50 is obtained by taking account of the result of the estimation. |
