PURPOSE:To enable a user to grasp the whole route and distance momentarily without varying the scale of a map by providing a subview on a part of the display screen of a map display device of GPS and displaying an image of the whole route that the user sets and the current position in the subview. CONSTITUTION:This device has a map information storage part 12 which offer data of a map, an information read means 13 which reads map information out, a display means 17 which displays the read map information, a distance storage means 15 which sets and stores the route on the map displayed by the display means 17, a distance map generation means 16 which generates a distance map through the distance storage means 15, and a current position calculating means 14 which calculates the current position of the user; and the user grasp the whole route and distance momentarily without varying the scale of the map. |
