PURPOSE:To reinforce the inner surface of a pad side part against the expansion of an air bag by fixing the folded air bag in an upper cylindrical part in a base having an H-like longitudinal sectional shape, by forming blow-off ports for jetting gas, in an inflator, and by fixing a lower cylindrical part to the vehicle body. CONSTITUTION:A base 100 is integrally incorporated with a reinforcing plate 101 and a plurality of pawls 102, a space 14 in which an air bag 3 is expanded by gas fed from gas blow-off ports in the inflator 2, and a a space 15 in which an electronic control device 5 is located are provided so as to have an H-like cross-sectional shape. Further, the space 15 in which the electronic control device is located and the space 14 in which the air bag 13 is expanded, serve as the inner surface wall of the side part 8 of a pad 1, and accordingly, the reinforcement can be obtained while the end parts of the air bag and the like can be held between the side part 8 of the pad 1 and the base 100, thereby it is possible to prevent the air bag from being damaged. |
