<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid oxide fuel cell having superior power generation efficiency in which emission of harmful CO is decreased. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel electrode layer 3 and an oxidizer electrode layer 4 are arranged on both faces of solid electrolyte layer 2 while fuel electrode current collectors 6 and oxidizer electrode current collectors 7 respectively consisting of foamed metal are arranged on the outside of the fuel electrode layer 3 and an oxidizer electrode layer 4, and separators 8 are arranged on the outside of the fuel electrode current collector 6 and the oxidizer electrode current collector 7 to constitute a fuel cell stack 1. An oxidation catalyst 20 is filled in the peripheral part of the fuel cell electrode current collector 6 that burns the remaining non-reacted gas by catalyst combustion not depending on the power generation reaction to reduce the volume of the emission of CO gas. Furthermore, the hydrocarbon reforming catalyst 10 is filled in the inside of the fuel electrode current collector 6, fuel reforming reaction to reform the fuel is carried out by utilizing the heat generated by the catalyst combustion in the endothermal reaction of the reforming reaction, thus enhancing the thermal efficiency and the power generation efficiency. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
