The air stream is led through a regenerator pair. Water separation is accomplished before condensing out impurities. Water is removed by adsorption. Air led through the regenerators undergoes heat exchange exclusively with an impure nitrogen stream from low temperature fractionation. An Independent claim is included for corresponding plant in which the regenerators have a water-adsorbing bed at their inlet. Preferred features: A side stream of air to be separated, not supplied to the regenerators, is freed of impurities by adsorption. It then cooled down by indirect heat exchange, preheating at least one product of fractionation. At least 50%-80% of the air supplied to low temperature fractionation is passed through the regenerators. Adsorptive water separation is integrated into the regenerators. The water-laden adsorbent is flushed for regeneration, using impure nitrogen from low temperature fractionation. Regenerators contain steel or aluminum, trays or packing as heat storage material. Tray width is 30-500 mm. In addition to the regenerators, at least one adsorber pair and a heat exchanger are included. An air inlet branch line is connected via the adsorber to the heat exchanger.
|
