This invention is a system, and a method for manipulating movement within a body cavity. The device includes an optical fiber (14) coupled to an energy source, and a sleeve (12) for containing the fiber (14). The fiber (14) has a distal end for positioning adjacent to the surface being treated, and a proximal end located external to the body cavity which is coupled to an opening device (16) for controlling the lateral, and/or longitudinal movemen t of the fiber (14).
