The invention relates to a process for removing pollutants from domestic or industrial waste water using a cationic polyelectrolyte having quaternary ammonium salt groups in the macromolecular chain and a mineral coagulation agent such as Al2(SO4)3, said polyelectrolyte being obtained by condensational polymerization of the epichlorhydrin with dimethylamine and triethylene tetramine.
