PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink for electrostatic ink jet recording realizing stable high-speed ejection of ink and forming an image having high density and fixability and provide an electrostatic ink jet recording method and a recording apparatus using the ink. SOLUTION: The ink for electrostatic ink jet recording contains an electrically insulating non-aqueous solvent containing at least a coloring material insoluble in the non-aqueous solvent, a thermoplastic resin soluble in the non- aqueous solvent and a charge-controlling agent soluble in the non-aqueous solvent and applying electrostatic charge to the coloring material and has a volume resistivity of >=10<7> Ω.m. The ink further contains an oleophilic nonionic surfactant soluble in the non-aqueous solvent.
