A method for displaying menus on the basis of usage records in a mobile terminal is provided to allow a user to access a desired item more easily and rapidly by selectively displaying frequently used items or recently used items. In an idle screen state, a menu display control module confirms whether key input for menu access is generated from a key input part(S71). If menu access key input is generated, the menu display control module checks a usage record DB, confirms which item has been used finally and what an uppermost menu to which the finally used item belongs is, and selects the uppermost menu of the finally used item(S72). The menu display control module controls a usage record control module and extracts the usage records of the lowest items of the selected uppermost menu from the usage record DB(S73). Based on the extracted usage records, the menu display control module displays menus(S74). Then the menu display control module determines whether a right or left direction key is inputted(S75). In case the input of a right or left direction key is generated, the menu display control module selects another uppermost menu, which is on the right or left of the selected uppermost menu, according to the inputted key(S76).
