<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for polishing a discontinuous profile of a cylindrical gear, shortening the machining time, reducing risk of a grinding burn, and adapting the tool to roughing and finishing of a workpiece frank. <P>SOLUTION: The discontinuous profile polishing tool of the present invention fairs the profile and profiling it again. Respective shapes of profiles in the axial direction of the tool are designed so that at least two franks, preferably all the franks of the tool are used for roughing of the workpiece frank, and so that franks to be profiled again which are supplied for only roughing are sufficiently retreated at the time of finishing so as not to contact the workpiece frank. In a method of the present invention, the discontinuous profile of the cylindrical gear are polished by the tool. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
