A lottery token comprises an inner core 12 with at least one visually identifiable characteristic and is concealed by an opaque coating 16. The covering is irreversibly removable such that any attempt to reveal the visually identifiable characteristic of the inner core is evident. The opaque coating may be removable by dissolution in a solvent. The opaque covering may be a layer of film-forming polymer, paint or lacquer and may be removable by melting or peeling. A plurality of these tokens may provide a kit. A method of drawing a lottery using the tokens previously described is also disclosed. This method comprises a random selection of a pre-determined number of lottery tokens, receiving bets from lottery players and removing the covering to reveal the winning combination of visually identifiable characteristics. The lottery tokens and method of drawing reduce the risk or opportunity for fraud in lotteries. |
