Provided are an image coding method and apparatus, and an image decoding method and apparatus. The coding method comprises: determining a scanning mode parameter of a coding block, the scanning mode parameter comprising at least one of: an area indication parameter configured to determine a scanning area of the coding block, and a scanning indication parameter configured to determine a scanning sequence of pixels in the scanning area in the coding block; determining predictive values of some or all of the pixels in the coding block according to the scanning mode parameter; and coding the coding block according to the predictive values, and writing a coding result, obtained after coding, into a code stream. The problem in the related coding/decoding art that the efficiency is low due to scanning only in a fixed mode is solved, thereby achieving the effect of improving the coding compression efficiency and the decoding decompression efficiency.
