Exhaust flame suppressor with cooled inlet pipe - has flow reversal multi-path flow along channels between ceramic insert and metal casing

The exhaust flame suppressor forms part of a unit as described in 2610153, with gas entering along a cooled internal pipe (1), turning outwards through multiple holes (13) and reversing flow along the heat conducting outer casing. However this last flow path now consists of a number of small bore channels formed between grooves (5) in a tubular ceramic insert (6) and the casing. The insert also forms part of the coolant duct (8, 10, 11, 9) around the inlet pipe. A further flow direction change is introduced by discharging the gases through radial holes (7) in the casing.
