<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for dehydrating/drying sludge, which has a compression membrane having the thermal conductivity enough to heat sludge so that the drying time of cake can be shortened and sludge can be dried evenly. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus for dehydrating/drying sludge is constituted so that a filtration chamber is formed by putting compression membranes 52, 52 and two sheets of filter cloth 51, 51 between filter plates 54, 54 and the sludge in the filtration chamber is compressed and dried. This apparatus is provided with a hot water generator 31 for generating hot water for heating the sludge in the filtration chamber.
