Process and apparatus for the instantaneous measurement of the lambda and/or the air/fuel ratio of combustion apparatuses, in particular of internal combustion engines, by measuring or analysing individual components of the fuel, of the ambient air used to burn the fuel and of the exhaust gas. The water vapour concentration of the exhaust gas and, preferably, of the ambient air or of the supply gas used to burn the fuel are measured, the lambda and/or air/fuel ratio being calculated with the aid of these measured values and data relating to the fuel composition. ……
