In a method for retreading large tyres such as tyres for earth moving equipment, in which a new tread, which is previously compression-moulded in a heatable mould, is vulcanisation-bonded to the prepared carcase (2) of a tyre, a high degree of cost-effectiveness and a high quality of the process product can be achieved by manufacturing the tread in the form of a one-part, completely vulcanised tread strip (1) having a non-curved cross-section and a length matched to the circumference of the carcase, by shoulder attachments (19) which are made of uncured rubber and at least substantially reduce the curvature of the carcase (2) on the tread-surface side extending transversely to the circumferential direction being mounted on the roughened carcase (2) of the tyre, by subsequently winding the tread strip (1) on the carcase (2) provided with shoulder attachments (19), whilst interposing at least one layer (16 and 20) of adhesive rubber, and closing the resulting join with adhesive rubber, and then by subjecting the entire tyre to vulcanisation treatment in an autoclave (27). <IMAGE> |
