<p>Apparatus for the carbonation of water for pre-mix and post-mix beverage dispensers which provides carbonation "on demand", has two-stage carbonation comprising a pair of inline static mixers or turbulators 15 followed by means eg a centifugal pump 17, to further break up and dissolve remaining carbon dioxide bubbles. The apparatus also comprises a control device 30,31 for permitting or stopping flow of carbon dioxide gas from a source 10 thereof into a fitting 12 having a second inlet connected to a source 13 of water.
