PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet which makes a high-quality and curl-less print even when printing conditions for the surface and back change in printing both sides of the sheet by ink jet printing as well as an ink jet recording method and a method for forming an ink jet image. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording sheet has at least an ink absorptive layer including an inorganic fine particle layer and a thermoplastic fine particle layer formed on both sides of a support and also the ink jet recording method is a method for recording data on the ink jet recording sheet using a dye ink or a pigment ink. In addition, the method for forming an ink jet image comprises the steps to record data on the side where the thermoplastic fine particle layer contains thermoplastic fine particles with a lower MFT (MFT1) of the ink jet recording sheet using the dye ink or the pigment ink and thermally treat the sheet at a temperature of the MFT1 or higher and MFT (MFT2) or lower which is higher than the MFT1 and record data on the side where the thermoplastic fine particle layer contains the thermoplastic fine particles with the higher MFT (MFT2) of the sheet using the pigment ink and further, thermally treat the sheet at a temperature of the MFT2 or higher.
