<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb a change in the relative positioning of pinion to a steering wheel for controlling the steering angle of steered wheels, independently of the driver's operation to turn the steering wheel. SOLUTION: A steering device 10 includes a rack-and-pinion mechanism 25 consisting of a pinion 31 coupled with the steering wheel 21 and a rack shaft 33 coupled with steered wheels 27, wherein the rack-and-pinion mechanism 25 is stored in a housing 35, and the steered wheels 27 are steered also by moving this housing 35 in the direction across the vehicle width. Between the steering wheel 21 and pinion 31, a universal shaft coupling mechanism 23 is interposed which admits a movement of the housing 35 across the vehicle width.</p> |
