PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency control method for an end face reflection type surface wave device, which has target frequency characteristics, in spite of the deviation in characteristics caused by a prepared piezoelectric substrate and hardly generates unwanted spurious signals. SOLUTION: In this frequency control method for an end face reflection type surface wave device 1, when forming confronted two end faces 2a and 2b of a piezoelectric substrate 2 by cutting by forming an interdigital transducer 3 on the piezoelectric substrate 2, the position ofλ/2 from the center of electrode fingers 4a and 4b adjacent to outermost electrode fingers 4a and 5c to the outside of a surface wave propagating direction is defined as a reference position, the end faces 2a and 2b are formed by cutting the piezoelectric substrate 2, within the range of +λ/8 or -λ/8 from the reference position along with the surface wave propagating direction, and the frequency can be controlled in the direction of decreasing or to increasing the frequency. |
