The device has a trough (10) with a fluid reservoir (11) to supply fluid (12) e.g. water, to plants (P). A trough (20) defines a free space (21) for roots (22) of the plants. The troughs respectively have side walls (13, 23) defining upper openings (14, 24) and lower openings (15, 25). Base walls (16, 26) are integrated with the side walls to close the respective lower openings, and the upper openings are not closed. The wall (26) has a through hole (27) formed in a manner to let the fluid flow. Pumping units (100) pump the fluid from the trough (10) and project the fluid in the trough (20).
