PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement communication between communication equipment for supporting a first and a second protocol and communication equipment for supporting the first protocol for sending back a first reply response to a second connection request command. SOLUTION: The communication equipment 1 is a first station for communicating with a second station and comprises: a first protocol control unit 111 for, when making connection to the second station, transmitting an exchange station identification command for the purpose of confirming the existence of the second station and thereafter transmitting a first connection request command to perform connection processing; a second protocol control means 112 for, when performing communication connection with the second station, transmitting a second connection request command to perform connection processing; and a protocol switching unit 113 for causing the second protocol control unit 112 to transmit the second connection request command when a response to the exchange station identification command is not received from the second station for a predetermined period of time after the first protocol control unit 111 is first made to transmit the exchange station identification command.
