PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a practical illegal copying preventing function. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus forms an image of light reflected from an original illuminated by a light source through an imaging lens on an image sensor to one-dimensionally read out an image of the original and scans the read out image to read out a two-dimensional image. The apparatus has at least a plurality of illumination lens functions and divides each of luminous fluxes emitted from a plurality of single-color light sources into a plurality of fluxes using the illumination lens functions to superpose the plurality of divided luminous fluxes on the original surface.
