PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance for discriminating between a genuine note and a counterfeit note in discrimination using ultraviolet light.SOLUTION: A paper sheet discrimination device comprises: a conveyance member 21c for conveying paper sheets BL; a holding member 26c for holding paper sheets with the conveyance member; a first guide 11 for supporting the conveyance member; a second guide 17 disposed facing the first guide, for supporting the holding member; a first ultraviolet sensor 51 disposed on the first guide side, for emitting ultraviolet light to the outside and detecting excitation light emitted from a fluorescence substance contained in paper sheets; and a second ultraviolet sensor 56 disposed on the second guide side, for emitting ultraviolet light to the outside and detecting excitation light emitted from a fluorescence substance contained in paper sheets. The first ultraviolet sensor and the second ultraviolet sensor are disposed on positions so as not to face each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
