1. A bioluminescent packaging comprising:
a package; a matrix within the package; a population of one or more bioluminescent organisms within the matrix, wherein the population of one or more bioluminescent organisms is determined by a state of a material therein configured to cause the bioluminescent organisms to emit light, wherein the material comprises a source of nutrients for the population of one or more bioluminescent organisms, wherein the population of bioluminescent organisms comprises a quantity of bioluminescent organisms sufficient to emit an observable light signal, and wherein the population of one or more bioluminescent organisms comprises Vibrionaceae; and a membrane within the package at least partially covering at least one surface of the matrix, wherein the membrane is permeable to at least one of a liquid or a gas, and wherein at least an area of the membrane is at least 50% transparent to visible light and can allow the observable light produced from the bioluminescent organisms responsive to the state of the material to pass therethrough. |
