Stranded steel wires, embedded on both sides in a rubber belt, as required for the production of motor car tyres, which are cut to length by conventional means usually have no exactly straight cut edges because the pull at the end leads to a restriction in the width of the parallel wire bundle. This can be avoided by additional magnetic lifting/advancing strips. A first set of lifting strips is arranged obliquely close to and parallel to the oblique cutting guillotine. A second set of lifting strips, at right angles to the length of rubber belting, is arranged close to the fold at the work table entry. If glass fibres replace the steel wire strands, suction cups are used instead of the magnetic lifting strips.
|
