PURPOSE:To simplify the detection of whether or not an ink cartridge is installed and whether or not ink remains, by providing a detection means in an ink supplying route for detecting the presence or absence of ink remaining in an ink supply source, and a contact member in a signal transmission course which is closed as said ink supply source is mounted. CONSTITUTION:When sufficient ink remains in an ink cartridge 130 mounted in a main body of an ink-jet recording apparatus, a contact lever 160 is brought to a position rotated in a counterclockwise direction against the urging force of a spring 163 because of the engagement between engaging parts 131 and 162. Accordingly, contacts 154A, 164 are kept in a closed state and, at the same time, electrodes 153 and 154 are connected to each other through a conductive part 155A of an actuator 155. On the other hand, when the ink remains little in the ink cartridge or the ink cartridge is detached, the actuator 155 moves downward to disconnect the electrodes 153, 154 in the former case, or the lever 160 is rotated in a clockwise direction by the spring 163 thereby to disconnect the contacts 154A, 164 in the latter case. Thus, by a proper informing means, an operator can be informed of the fact that the recording apparatus is in the unable state. |
