Use of ifenprodil, i.e. (+/-)-erythro-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(4-benzyl-1-piperidinyl)propanol, its enantiomers, its acid addn. salts or free base forms in medicaments for treating peripheral neuropathy and central neurodegenerative diseases is new.
