The invention describes a method of producing sheet-like light-deflection elements (1) from material which is transparent to sunlight, with two plane boundary layers which totally reflect the sunlight and are provided between the plane surfaces. The invention also concerns a device for carrying out this method. According to this method, the interior of the material (1) which is transparent to sunlight has narrow air gaps (3) which preferably have a width in the micrometer range. Furthermore, the interfaces incorporated into the material (1) which is transparent to sunlight have very high surface quality such that the light which is totally reflected thereon is deflected without losses.
