<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical optical branching/inserting device of low device cost at initial introduction, in which communication is not interrupted even at addition of optical signal of new wavelength. <P>SOLUTION: N-units of selecting optical switches 10 are so provided that n-pieces of optical signals divided by an optical demultiplexer 2 are inputted, and determine whether the optical signal is outputted to pass through signal lines P1-Pn extending to an optical multiplexer side as transmission light signal or it is outputted to a branch line as branching optical signal. A branching side n×m matrix optical switch 12 is connected to n-pieces of branch lines extending from the selecting optical switch 10, and outputs the branching optical signal inputted from the branching line whether to m-pieces (m is integer, being <n) of branching ports D<SB>1</SB>-D<SB>m</SB>or to n-pieces of branching side through ports TD<SB>1</SB>-TD<SB>n</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
